The short version: NextEp does not collect, store, or share any personal data. Everything you track — including reminders, stats and your year recap — stays on your device. There are no accounts, no analytics, and no ads.
None. NextEp does not require an account and does not collect any personal information, usage analytics, identifiers, or diagnostics. We have no servers that receive your data.
The shows you follow and the episodes you mark as watched are stored in a local database on your device only. Statistics, your year recap and the home screen widget are all built from that same local database — the widget reads a small summary of your next episodes shared inside the app's own private storage on the device. None of this data leaves your device. If you delete the app, it is deleted with it, unless you exported a backup yourself.
If you turn on new episode alerts, the reminders are scheduled locally on your device from air dates the app has already downloaded. There is no push server, no device token, and no account — NextEp cannot see whether a reminder was delivered or opened. Turning the setting off cancels every pending reminder.
NextEp asks for calendar access only when you tap Add to calendar on an episode. It pre-fills your system's own event form with the show name, episode and air date; the event is saved only if you save it. NextEp does not read your existing events and never sends calendar information anywhere.
Exporting a backup writes a file with your tracked shows and watched episodes and hands it to the iOS share sheet. Where that file goes — Files, iCloud Drive, another app, email — is entirely your choice, and it is then covered by that service's own terms. NextEp does not upload backups anywhere. Your library is also part of your device's normal iCloud backup, which is encrypted and managed by Apple, not by us.
A CSV you import is read on your device. To match the shows in it, NextEp looks them up in the public TVMaze database — the same kind of lookup as searching. The file itself is not uploaded, and it is not kept after the import finishes.
NextEp fetches public TV show information (titles, episode lists, artwork, air dates) from the free, community-driven TVMaze API. When the app requests this information, TVMaze receives a standard network request (which includes your IP address, as with any internet request), but NextEp sends no personal information, no account details, and nothing about your watch history. You can review TVMaze's own policies on their website.
NextEp contains no advertising, no third-party trackers, and no analytics SDKs.
NextEp does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
If we ever change how NextEp handles data, we will update this page and revise the effective date above. Because the app collects nothing, we expect changes to be rare.
